Email Header Analyzer
Parse raw email headers to trace delivery hops, surface key fields, and check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication results, entirely in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my data sent to a server when using the Email Header Analyzer?
No. The Email Header Analyzer is a fully client-side utility. All data processing, calculations, and conversions are handled locally in your browser. No input text, payloads, or keys are uploaded to any external server.
Why is the delivery route shown bottom-to-top instead of top-to-bottom?
Each mail server prepends its own `Received:` header to the top of the message as it passes the email along, so the topmost `Received:` header in the raw source is actually the most recent hop, and the bottommost is the original sender. This tool reverses that order so the displayed route reads chronologically, from Hop 1 (the original sender) to the final hop (your inbox).
How are SPF, DKIM, and DMARC results detected?
The analyzer looks for an `Authentication-Results:` header and best-effort extracts `spf=`, `dkim=`, and `dmarc=` values from it using simple pattern matching. Not every mail provider includes this header, so a missing badge doesn't necessarily mean authentication failed — it just means the result wasn't reported in a recognizable format.
What can this tool be used for?
It's a diagnostic and forensic tool for tracing how an email traveled across mail servers, spotting unusual or spoofed `From`/`Return-Path` mismatches, and reviewing authentication results — useful when investigating phishing attempts or delivery delays.
Does the Email Header Analyzer store history or cache my inputs?
No. The application runs entirely in browser memory. Once you refresh the tab, navigate away, or close the window, all inputted details, logs, and outputs are completely cleared.
Is the Email Header Analyzer compatible with mobile devices?
Yes. The interface is optimized to be fully responsive. You can perform calculations, conversions, and formats on all modern mobile, tablet, and desktop web browsers.
Does the Email Header Analyzer work offline?
Yes. Once loaded, all code and assets required to run the Email Header Analyzer reside in your browser cache, enabling offline use without an active network connection.
